An opportunity has arisen in the Neighbourhood Relations Team for the role of Domestic Abuse Housing Outreach Worker.

Reporting to the Partnership and Inclusion Coordinator you will be responsible for providing outreach support to victims of domestic abuse, specifically in relation to assisting victims to overcome barriers to housing.

You will be required to work on your own initiative, providing short term one to one practical and emotional support to victims of domestic abuse who may have complex needs. To support your work, you will have access to funding that can bring about change for service users.

To undertake this post, you will need to demonstrate that you have experience of working with victims of domestic abuse and be able to demonstrate your knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and practice. This will include procedures such as MARAC and Safeguarding. You should also be able to identify and manage risk, and consider ways to reduce risk.

Ideally you will have experience of setting up projects and working on your own initiative. To fulfil the challenges of this role you will need to understand the issues faced by the victims of domestic abuse. This will involve dealing with complex and emotionally challenging situations.

In addition, you will have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills. You will also be able to demonstrate your ability to work in partnership with other agencies.

You will be required to have 5 GCSEs or the equivalent at Grade C or above or relevant experience and possess IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. A full driving license and access to a car and knowledge of Data Protection and Confidentiality would be desirable to carry out this post.
