Located at the heart of Weardale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Wolsingham School is approximately 15 minutes’ drive west of Durham. The school is set in extensive grounds, having benefited from a new building in April 2016. The Science Faculty are based in a purpose-built suite of six laboratories complete with new digital technologies and breakout ICT facilities.
We are seeking to appoint a driven, innovative and inspiring classroom teacher with strong practical skills who has the ability to enthuse and motivate students to strive for excellence. Science is taught within a forward thinking and creative team and we welcome applications from either new or experienced colleagues. A passion for teaching and learning and a genuine regard for exceptional progress with quality care for all our students is essential.
Wolsingham School is one of the top schools in County Durham. In 2018, our Progress 8 score was +0.22 and 70% of our students passed English and Maths. We have exceptionally well-behaved pupils and an extensive extra-curricular programme. We are oversubscribed for Year 7 entry for September 2019. Our staff and Leadership Team are extremely supportive and we provide excellent professional development opportunities for NQTs and more experienced staff alike.
We welcome applications regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity or religion. Our school is also committed to the protection and safety of its students. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure DBS check.
Application forms are available from and returnable to Mrs Gillian Norbury, PA to the Headteacher at the school.
Closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 1st March 2019.
Interviews to be held Wednesday 13th March 2019.
Durham County Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer. We want to develop a more diverse workforce and we positively welcome applications from all sections of the community. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met.
