The Service
Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council & Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust; the Procurement Shared Service is a ground-breaking collaboration between Local Authority and NHS. The service, now into its fourth year, provides a sustainable and cost-effective procurement service, which helps drive economic benefits and service quality for its stakeholder organisations.

The role
Providing strategic procurement for Northumberland County Council, Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust; the Shared Procurement Service is a groundbreaking collaboration between local authority and NHS. Its aim is to provide a sustainable and cost effective procurement service which help drive economic benefits and service quality for both stakeholder organisations.

Reporting into the Senior Procurement Specialists, the Procurement Officer will be responsible for supporting a defined number of procurement projects across the two stakeholder organisations.

This role is designed for an individual who wants to move from traditional, transactional, low risk procurement roles to more specialist higher value procurement activity. The successful applicant will demonstrate a workable knowledge of public sector procurement and commercial business acumen, developed from previous experience working in the in the public sector.

Those joining the Shared Procurement Service will have a unique opportunity to make a real contribution in supporting the development of this service. Successful applicants will be proactive and have a desire to learn new skills; they will also possess good communication and team working skills.

We are offering:
A starting salary of £23,866 - £26,470
