New College Durham Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust that currently comprises of two large Academies: Consett Academy and North Durham Academy, located some six miles apart in North West Durham. Both Academies are located in multi million pound new builds, offering unrivalled state of the art facilities for our students and communities in Consett and Stanley.
The Trust is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified IT Technician, within our wider Corporate Services team, to start as soon as possible. Recent developments within the IT Service means it is an exciting time to join our Trust.
IT Technician
37 hours per week whole time Grade 2 - £17,391 - £18,672
The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Senior Technical Manager to assist with processing, resolving and updating IT issues whilst supporting the administrative and curriculum networks providing timely and efficient ICT support to all staff. With this in mind, we are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic self-starter to deal with all aspects of Information, Communication and Technology supporting the various functions of the Academies and the Trust.
Activities within the Team include:
• Support the use and development of ICT networks and resources for staff and students
• Providing 1st line ICT support to Trust staff with a high level of customer service in a timely manner
• Collect, deliver and set up ICT equipment for our staff and students as required
• Repair and maintain equipment, using warranty and support
• Maintain the IT inventory of all ICT equipment (hardware and software) and licenses for which the Trust is responsible
• Take ownership of and resolve user incidents and be proactive when dealing with user issues
• Support updates and system maintenance to protect against computer viruses
You will need to be able to demonstrate good organisational skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with students and colleagues.
A good working knowledge of Windows deployment, rebuilding devices and wireless network configuration is required. The ability to work on your own initiative as well as being a positive team player is essential. A high level of personal integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times is also required.
Ideally, applicants should either hold NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline or be able to demonstrate appropriate experience of providing first line technical support.
