Salary: Band 1 inclusive of market supplement £69,963 to £74,962 (pro rata for part-time)

VACANCY NO: AHS/19/35

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a forward thinking public health team in County Durham.

We are appointing to two full time equivalent posts (available as full time/part time/job share) for Consultant in Public Health.

Applications are therefore invited for the following posts:
- Consultant in Public Health for Living Well
- Consultant in Public Health for Ageing Well

County Durham is the largest local authority in the North East and these are senior appointments within the Council with postholders being responsible for delivering the Council’s statutory duties as well as shaping and commissioning significant strategic programmes across the life course.

Post holders will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and change management skills, working with partners at a senior level across the health and social care system and with a real sense of drive to make a difference to local residents.

Each postholder will be expected to support the improvement of health outcomes in Durham, including the development and delivery of the Public Health Vision and Strategic Plan for Durham County Council and the priorities in the Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy.

The public health team has recently been reviewed to improve its alignment with emerging public health priorities across the life course, as well as ensuring greater integration within Durham County Council. These appointments therefore provide an excellent opportunity for successful candidates to shape the development of new programmes of work with local partners.

If you would like an informal discussion about any of these posts, please contact: Amanda Healy, Director of Public Health email amanda.healy@durham.gov.uk

Required Qualifications: Applicants will be expected to be included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists

It is anticipated that interviews will be held on 9th April 2019.

Can you please state in your application if you have a preference for the post of CPH for Living Well or CPH for Ageing Well and confirm your request for working hours (full time or part time).

Apply on-line via the NE Jobs portal or for further assistance contact the HR Operations & Data Team on Telephone: 03000 267247 (24hr answerphone). Email: hrAHS@durham.gov.uk

Closing date: 8 March 2019

In line with the County Council’s Recruitment & Selection Policy, please note that we are unable to accept CV’s. Any information provided on CV’s will not be considered for short-listing purposes.
