Walkergate Community School is part of Newcastle East multi Academy Trust (NEAT). We are a large primary school with teaching school status.

Our school motto is 'together we make a difference'. At Walkergate Community School we are lucky enough to have a passionate workforce who all care for and respect the fantastic children of our school. We are dedicated to school improvement and we all aim to provide a happy, safe and fun school environment for the children and our staff too.

The Governors of Walkergate Community School wish to appoint a Support Assistant Level 2 to work initially on our main school site in Sutton Street. The post is a maternity contract until 31 December 2019, working 32.5 hours per week.

The role involves some class based work, small group work and individual support. If required by the needs of the school you must be prepared to train and act as a First Aider within the school. There is also the opportunity of supporting our extensive out of hour’s timetable. Preference will be given to applicants who are willing to work overtime as and when needed to run an after school club outside of their normal working hours.

Applications are invited from candidates with the relevant qualifications and experience. Selection will be by interview and short observation.

Application forms are only available via the schools website at www.walkergate.newcastle.sch.uk under the jobs heading. Please return a hard copy of your application to our Primary school site at the above address.

Closing date for all jobs is 4pm, Thursday 21 March 2019.
Interviews and observations will take place 1 April 2019. If you have not been contacted by end of day on 27 March, please assume you have been unsuccessful. All appointments are subject to references and successful DBS checks.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and a range of other recruitment checks.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
