Longbenton is a successful 11-18 school who are looking to appoint a Teacher of Science (Physics) from September 2019. These are exciting times for us as a school making a real difference for our pupils. This is a really good opportunity for someone to join us at a key point in our development and be part of something innovative, challenging and rewarding at a school that is inclusive, comprehensive in its intake and a focal point of the local community.

We want to appoint a physics specialist for September 2019, to join our Science department. If successful, you will be joining a committed team of professionals who are raising standards and determined to develop the quality of teaching in the department and improve learning outcomes for all learners. This is an important appointment for our school, the main responsibilities for which are set out in the applicant’s pack which you will find on our school website, www.longbenton.org.uk.

The successful candidate will be required to teach across the age and ability range of KS3 and 4. The potential to be able to teach physics at KS5 is important as science is a very popular A level choice at Longbenton. Above all, we are looking for someone who is, or has the potential to be, an excellent teacher. In return you will work in a very supportive environment with pupils who want to learn and a staff who are keen to collaborate and develop their practice.

The Science Department at Longbenton contains a wealth of experience and expertise in a number of different areas, and would be a great place to develop your pedagogy. We run a great number of successful extra-curricular events, and as such the successful candidate can get involved in the whole life of the school. Longbenton offers the successful candidate a whole-hearted commitment to professional learning that places individual development at the heart of its ethos.
