Opportunities have arisen for 3 Casual Assistant Rangers within the Parks and Countryside Team:-

The post holders will be required to work across two sites Wharton Park in Durham City and Hardwick Park in Sedgefield as required for Service needs. As the post holder will be covering shifts as and when required there is no minimum or maximum hours guaranteed.

The post holder may also be asked to support the sited based ranger team within the wider Countryside Estate. Opening hours for the Parks vary from 07:30 – 20:00 with seasonal variation and are covered by a rota.

The role is very varied and the post holder will be asked to be responsible for the security and general maintenance of Visitor Centres and all other structures within any Park and elsewhere on the Countryside estate as required

Tasks will primarily comprise of undertaking site inspections, routine maintenance tasks, cleaning, running of the miniature cars (Wharton Park), supporting volunteers and contributing to the management of the wider Countryside Estate.

Required Qualifications:
NVQ level 3 in countryside management or directly related subject

Due to the requirement to drive a County Council vehicle in this role, appointment will be subject to the production of a valid driving licence for the required category of vehicle and the satisfactory completion of an in-house Driver Induction Assessment.
