This is an exciting time to join our school. We are forward thinking and outward facing in the areas of restorative approaches, diversity and mental health. As a school we believe in restorative approaches and our systems are set up to de-escalate and return children to lessons as much as possible. We also challenge our pupils to have a growth mindset and to keep trying to be the best they can be, no matter what obstacles they face. There will be significant training offered with this post in the areas of Restorative Justice, Mental Health, Teaching and Learning and Attendance.
This role is pivotal to the success of the young people at Whickham School to support pupils to be the very best that they can be.
The successful candidate will have the experience and capability to;
Lead and motivate a team.
To monitor and support pupils' behaviour, attendance, conduct, attitudes, personal and social development across a whole year group.
To lead a team of Form Tutors by supporting and developing their roles in pupil development.
To promote the highest standards of pupil behaviour, attendance, conduct and attitudes.
To liaise with appropriate outside agencies.
To lead their team in the pastoral mentoring of students.
To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive mission and ethos and to encourage and ensure staff and pupils follow this example.
Promote and exemplify the schools safeguarding policy.
