Create a new future for North of Tyne
Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland local authorities have secured a devolution deal that focuses on bringing investment, employment, educational opportunities and brighter economic prospects to the whole North of Tyne area.
The initial devolution deal means £20m worth of investment a year for the next 30 years which will provide an extra £600m for the area. It also means new powers to shape our own future and meet the needs of local people and business.
Led by an Elected Mayor, the new North of Tyne Combined Authority will manage a range of powers on housing, enterprise and innovation, economic infrastructure, skills, education and employment. Decisions will be made locally to benefit our local economy and the people who live, work, study and visit here.
Over the 30-year-period, this could create up to 10,000 new and better jobs, generate £1.1bn for our local economy and pull in a further £2.1bn in private sector investment.

The North of Tyne Combined Authority is seeking to recruit experienced Policy Development Officers to support the shaping, development and implementation of a wide range of policy initiatives across the North of Tyne region. We are looking to recruit in several different disciplines including; economic strategy, inward investment, housing and social policy and applicants must indicate their area of expertise.
The role will include the opportunity to work at the heart of local democracy and decision making and we are looking for someone with the right skills, abilities and talent to support Councillors and Officers.
To be successful in this role you will need a demonstrable track record of analysing and interpreting complex information, research and data and have strong networking skills.
The post holder will also have the ability to build strong working relationships with Councillors, colleagues, key partners and a wide range of stakeholders.
