Create a new future for North of Tyne

Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland local authorities have secured a devolution deal that focuses on bringing investment, employment, educational opportunities and brighter economic prospects to the whole North of Tyne area.

The initial devolution deal means £20m worth of investment a year for the next 30 years which will provide an extra £600m for the area. It also means new powers to shape our own future and meet the needs of local people and business.

Led by an Elected Mayor, the new North of Tyne Combined Authority will manage a range of powers on housing, enterprise and innovation, economic infrastructure, skills, education and employment. Decisions will be made locally to benefit our local economy and the people who live, work, study and visit here.

Over the 30-year-period, this could create up to 10,000 new and better jobs, generate £1.1bn for our local economy and pull in a further £2.1bn in private sector investment.

This is an exciting time for the North of Tyne area and we are looking for exceptional people to join us on this momentous journey, to deliver our vision and help us promote the North of Tyne on the national and international stage.

The North of Tyne Combined Authority is a ground breaking organisation, allowing the transfer of unprecedented new powers from the Government to the North of Tyne. We will make an ambitious contribution to the lives of local people, with a clear priority to help the communities we serve to fulfil their true potential – in all aspects of life.

The North of Tyne Combined Authority is recruiting a Lead Financial Adviser to produce the statutory annual accounts, provide tax and other technical advice, undertake banking and treasury management activities, and maintain and develop the financial systems. The Lead Financial Adviser will also be required to support managers to improve the financial performance of services and develop / implement revenue and capital projects, work with managers to improve their financial acumen and provide sound financial recommendations to deliver value for money.

To be successful in this role you will need a demonstrable track record in applying your financial skills and expertise to resolve complex business issues and improving financial performance and have a proven track record of building trust and working collaboratively with non-finance professionals. You will also have a sound knowledge of local authority financial accounting policies and practices.

If you are interested in this opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
