Admin / Secretarial / Customer Services
County Hall, Morpeth
As a team we provide the Information Governance function for the Council, which sits within the Information Services department. We provide advice and guidance to internal and external customers regarding information rights and the processing of requests under the Data Protection Act 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 which the Council has a legal responsibility for responding within set timescales. The Information Commissioner's Officer have just been consulting on a new strategy which is going to focus on marketing and promoting the rights individuals have which means we are expecting volumes of requests to increase as awareness does. At the moment we process on average around 2,000 requests through the team a year.
We would expect the role to support our team with admin tasks for example, raising and paying invoices, helping us upload information to the website, dealing with post, photocopying, printing, removing names from paperwork (redaction), taking minutes of meetings when required, responding to day to day enquiries, answering the phone to internal or external customers and providing them with basic support with requests. There will be some interaction over the phone but mainly email as we do a lot of the work via email.
