Hartlepool Borough Council are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified Driver Development Officer to deliver driver training and assessments in the following areas, to pass the DVSA test in each category:-
Car and Van: (Category B) - Vehicles up to 3500kgs. The applicant must be a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor, Grade A and preferably on the DVSA Fleet Register.
(Category B+E*) - To also include trailer training.
Medium Goods: (Category C1*) - Vehicles up to 7500kgs
(Category C1+E) - To also include trailer training
Large Goods: (Category C*) - Vehicles over 7500kgs
Minibus: (Category D1*) - Vehicles carrying 9-16 passengers
(Category D1+E*) - To include trailer training
Bus and Coach: (Category D*) Vehicles carrying more than 9 passengers
MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme): The applicant will be a registered Driver Assessor Trainer for both Standard and Accessible MiDAS training.
The applicant will be required to deliver Driver CPC training in both LGV and PCV categories, and must have the ability to deliver presentations to up to 20 drivers.
The applicant must be the holder of the required licence and have held it for a period of 3 years in order to deliver supervised instruction.
Consideration will be given to candidates who are qualified to deliver some but not all of the above training, but are willing to undertake appropriate training to enable them to fully carry out the role.
The applicant will also need to be conversant with all vehicles operated by the local authority, carry out driver inductions, assessments and familiarisation training. Driver assessments post-collision and Return to Work, will also form part of the role.
The applicant will also deliver work related road safety presentations on behalf of the authority.
You must have experience of delivering driver training, possess good communication skills and have a flexible approach to work.
