We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of Childrens Services with the vision, innovation and drive to lead on all of our education, learning and skills services for a brighter and stronger future.

We have strong foundations on which to build a better future for children and young people in the borough and are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join our senior team to lead and shape a whole system that delivers the best of lifelong learning for our residents.

Our Early Years and School Improvement Service provides challenge and support to schools with the aim of ensuring that every young person in the borough attends a school in which they experience high quality teaching and achieve well. Overall, young people in North Tyneside achieve above the national average in almost all key indicators as a result of collaboration and innovation.

The Employment and Skills Service develops and manages a fully integrated service covering information, advice and guidance, employability and learning and skills. It also offers opportunities for employment and skills development with economic investment and area regeneration activity across North Tyneside.

The Education, Learning and Skills service as a whole actively supports and facilitates partnership working to further improve outcomes for young people.

The postholder will be key to ensuring that the council delivers on its future agenda.
