An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 qualified social workers to join our Children with Disabilities Social Work Team. This role provides an opportunity to be part of the delivery of a high quality service, improving the lives of children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland and placing children and young people at the heart of everything we do.
If you are enthusiastic and passionate, and want to make a real difference in disabled children's lives, then we would like to hear from you. The work you undertake will involve children in need, those in need of protection and children in our care.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in genuine partnership with families and professionals in order to coordinate services more effectively for families with children and young people with SEND and achieve improved outcomes.
With a focus on restorative social work practice, we provide our social workers with excellent management support and supervision to encourage best practice and innovation to flourish. We are committed to giving social workers the time to work directly and in partnership with families to achieve positive change for children. We care about our staff, recognise the importance of training and development and support our social workers to reach their full potential. We have a clear Workforce Development Strategy, with opportunities for professional development and career progression.
The successful candidate will have:
- a formal qualification in social work
- registration with the Health and Care Professions Council
- at least one year’s experience of working within a children and families social work setting
- successfully completed their ASYE programme
- the ability to produce good quality assessments and robust plans
- working knowledge of relevant legislation
- strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- some experience of working in disabilities would be desirable.

This post is also subject to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearances to ensure the Council is compliant with the Government’s requirements for Public Sector Network (PSN) Compliance. The criteria for a BPSS clearance includes applicants being required to satisfy the following the eligibility conditions of nationality/right to work and providing appropriate documentation to enable the Council to verify the identity of the applicant, their employment and/or academic history, and passing a criminal record (unspent convictions) check.
