Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity to join us as an Engagement Officer within the Learning and Skills Service. The role will require knowledge and experience of liaising with subcontracted training providers and co-ordinating and monitoring education and skills programmes delivered within Adult and Community Learning.

The successful candidate will possess effective people engagement skills, the ability to promote the learning and training programmes offered by the Service and experience of co-ordinating and maintaining forums and networks involving training providers and other partners.

The Engagement Officer will play a key role in the process for procurement of training providers and be a main liaison link between providers and the Service.

A large part of the role involves carrying out quality monitoring activities including inspection of learner-related documentation, observing learning sessions and ensuring that providers comply with the terms of their contracts with the Council. Linked with this is the preparation of monthly performance reports to support the Quality, Performance and Achievement Manager in implementing Contract Reviews.

The successful candidate will also support the Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure compliance of providers with all Safeguarding/Prevent requirements stated in the contract terms.


This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
