Together for Children-Sunderland, (TFC) are looking to appoint an
The role will include all functions attributed to the statutory role of the IRO, as detailed within the IRO Handbook. In addition you will chair child protection conferences and reviews and engage in quality assurance work, such as themed audits.

The successful applicant will assist in the development of the service and the delivery of training and may also be asked to support and cover TFC’s Designated Officer and Foster Carer Review post, during times of planned leave and sickness.

Applicants should possess a social work qualification and be able to demonstrate extensive experience of child care practice, post qualification. Evidence of work at a managerial level would be beneficial.

As an IRO you would need to provide a level of professional scrutiny to TFC-Sunderland, Social Care to ensure that children have appropriate plans in place and to prevent drift. Applicants should have a thorough understanding of the legal framework underpinning child care practise.

This post is exempt from rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
