Further Information
We’re looking to recruit an assistant asbestos coordinator to join our compliance team.
Our asbestos coordinator manages the day to day operations within this area and helps ensure that The Gateshead Housing Company is fully compliant with asbestos regulations.
This role will assist the Asbestos Coordinator in making sure that we’re optimising our relationship with key contractors, and in turn maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our customers and colleagues across the whole of the business. The role will also involve supporting the delivery of asbestos compliance management across cyclical, repairs and maintenance functions including customer influenced works.
In this role, you’ll act as the conduit between the housing company, and the asbestos removal contractors that we partner with. You will assist asbestos coordinator in making sure that work is being carried out in a safe and compliant way, accurate records are maintained, and contractors are delivering against key business objectives.
It’s an exciting time to join, as the team is rapidly growing and working on high profile projects that will benefit our customers, members and colleagues.
About you…
You’ll need to be an expert communicator, with the confidence to manage difficult conversations when agreements aren’t being met, have an awareness of construction style methods, building and building materials, a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and a good understanding of asbestos regulations.
It would be useful if you hold a BOHS Proficiency modules P405 qualification. However, if you don’t, we will support you to achieve this.
Although some of your work will be office based you will need to get out and about throughout the borough of Gateshead too, therefore it is important that you have access to mobility transport or hold a full driving licence. If you do hold a full driving licence would be beneficial although not essential that you have access to your own vehicle.
What next…?
If you have knowledge of compliance management, an understanding of asbestos regulations, a strong attention to detail along with natural people skills, then we can offer you the opportunity to gain fantastic exposure and build your profile with a business that puts people at the heart of its strategy.
We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences, and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.
We’re actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone, especially from underrepresented groups, therefore we particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates.
So if we have captured your attention and sparked your interest we look forward to receiving your application.
