This is an exciting time to join Northumberland’s Front Door Service which also incorporates an early help element
Do you have excellent communication and research skills and a commitment to high quality practice that focuses on the child and family’s experience? Then you might be the right person to join our Front Door Early Help Team.
First Contact is the first point of contact for all new contacts about children, young people and their families. We help vulnerable children who may benefit from early help services as well as children in need of social work support, protection and your role will be to receive referrals , gather information, signpost to services and make recommendations about thresholds for intervention.
The Early Help Hub process is a key part of Northumberlands Early Help offer. You will have a significant role in coordinating support for the Hub referrals the local authority receives. These referrals come from a wide range of services such as; school, GP’s, police, social care, families.
We are looking for someone who has a real passion and understanding of early help and universal services to provide a coordination role to our multi agency locality hubs in the Central and North areas of the county.
ABOUT YOU
- You will have experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment, ideally with direct experience of early help
- You will have experience of working in an early help setting and be confident and competent in your ability to ensure children and families receive the right service at the right level at the right time.
- You will always want to hear the child’s voice and ensure that this is taken into account.
- You will have excellent communication skills and be able to make decisions and recommendations in a fast paced environment
- You will be able to contribute to the development of the service.
- You will have a sound knowledge of thresholds of need and levels of intervention
- You will be empathetic and sensitive to the needs of children and families
- You will understand the importance of performance information and your contribution to maintaining high standards .
- You will have excellent communication skills and be able to convey complex messages in a straightforward way, both verbally and in writing.
- You will not be afraid to think creatively to solve problems.
- In addition to this you will support universal services in their use of the Early Help Assessment and the Team Around the Family (TAF) process.
- You will also provide support to our Social Care First Contact Service and act as a point of contact for partner agencies in relation to early help queries.
- Utilising Northumberland's agile working arrangement, there would be a requirement to work from a number of bases across the Central and North localities. Your main place of work being in Foundry House, Bedlington.
The successful candidate will need to have a new DBS / or show their current DBS if the update service has been used, as part of the normal recruitment process.
