Durham County Council is seeking to appoint a permanent Senior Auditor within the Internal Audit, Risk and Fraud Service. The Council’s Internal Audit Service is highly thought of and provides services to a wide range of clients including Police and Fire. This role will involve undertaking a range of internal audits, in accordance with the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards (PSIAS), reviewing the effectiveness of the control environment.

The successful post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload, arranging and agreeing the scope of audits with clients and preparing and agreeing audit reports, as well as meeting deadlines and ensuring audits are completed within budgeted timescales.

Experience of undertaking internal audits is essential, preferably in local government, as is the ability to work with minimum supervision. You must be confident in dealing with managers of all levels and providing professional advice as necessary.

Experience of using an electronic audit management system, preferably Galileo, is desirable.

Candidates should have AAT qualification or Certificate in Internal Auditing or equivalent relevant qualification
