Post title: Special Educational Needs and Disability Placement Planning Officer – full time – permanent

We are seeking a talented, dynamic and inspirational professional who will play a lead role in the planning and resourcing of placements for children and young people with SEND for Durham County Council.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Early Help, Inclusion and Vulnerable Children service team in one of the largest unitary councils in the country and contribute to the transformation and improvement of local provision. To succeed you will need to understand the scale and complexity of the task and the partner relationships between the Local Authority, children and young people with SEND and their parents, learning providers, health and care partners and have the ability to meet the challenges ahead.

We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work directly with the Strategic Manager for SEND Strategy, Assessment and Provision and the SEND and Looked After Casework Team who will share our commitment to the delivery of the highest quality service.

The post holder will be intrinsic to delivering the strategic priorities of the Integrated Steering Group for Children to ensure children and young people with SEND achieve the best possible outcomes and the 3 aims of the Local Area SEND Strategy:

1. Provide better coordinated services for children and young people with SEND across the Local Area
2. Ensuring high quality support that meets the needs of children and young people with SEND
3. Preparing young people for their adult lives

Successful candidates must have experience of working with Children and Young People with SEND and implementing and managing simple change and business transformation processes.

Required qualifications: Educated to degree or equivalent level in a relevant field
