We have a vacancy at our outstanding Dementia Resource Centre, Shadon House. Shadon House provides support for 23 people requiring a period of assessment, respite and day-care.
As a support worker, you will need to carry out a range of duties including supporting service users with tasks that promote their independence, maximise their wellbeing and maintain their dignity.
You will be required to develop and maintain a range of records, including individual care plans and health and safety records.
Knowledge of the needs of vulnerable people and excellent communication skills are essential to this post. You must hold a Level 2 NVQ in Care or equivalent qualification or be willing to work towards. You must also have a commitment to service user consultation and partnership working and hold the moving and handling certificate or be willing to work towards. Knowledge of best practice in services for older people is essential, and you must hold the care certificate or be willing to work towards.
Experience of working as part of a team is desirable, as is the ability to work on your own initiative.
Experience of working with older people and those living with dementia is also desirable.
