Employee Services provides a payroll, HR admin and pension service across the Council, YHN, Schools, Trusts and Academy Schools.
The service we provide ranges from placing adverts on the NE Portal, arranging pre-employment checks, appointments and all related processes in the cycle of employment through to termination. Providing a high quality, responsive service, giving a wide range of advice and support to ensure adherence to employment law, statutory obligations and best practice. The service provides experience and expertise in the interpretation and application of national and local conditions of service and salaries. We provide the Council and other external clients with workforce data, gender pay gap information and support in the implementation of a variety statutory obligations in relation to all aspects of employment, including pensions, tax and National Insurance.
In the first instance the placement will be in the centre of Newcastle at Higham House.
We are taking positive action to drive up standards at both a National and Local level and encourage applications from those that do not already hold qualifications at or above the Level of Apprenticeships on offer.
We need to give priority to the employability and skills needs of young people aged under 25 because they have a higher unemployment rate than over 25's, particularly 16-18 year olds Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET).
We are keen that all sections of the community, including disadvantaged communities within Newcastle upon Tyne such as those parts of the City with low Index of Multiple Depravation (IMO) scores, have the same opportunities in life as other people. We guarantee an interview to candidates from under- represented groups that meet the essential criteria documented on our Person Specification.
