Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

We are a caring and supportive team; loyal and tenacious, with integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children and young people?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Early Help Youth & Community Service, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking to recruit a number of Youth Support Workers for sessional work within our Youth Centres. The majority of this work will be on an evening, but there may be the opportunity for some daytime and weekend sessions. Youth Work sessions run from 2.5 hours to 5 hours per week.

Starting salary is between £9.94 - £11.64 per hour (NJC C+-D+) dependant on qualification and experience.

Our modernised Youth Service is very varied and delivers a wide range of programmes in a variety of settings including youth centres, projects and outreach provision to deliver sessions to both targeted and non-targeted groups.

Our aim is to challenge and engage young people positively as active members of their own communities particularly those disadvantaged in society.

We are looking for applicants to work as part of a team within their local community using their experiences to support these young people in developing their social and life skills as they move from childhood to adulthood.

Experience of working and engaging with young people is preferred but not essential and applicants should have a real commitment to improving outcomes for them. You will need to be enthusiastic and creative and have a flexible approach to responding to the needs of the service and young people.

The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.

For more information or an informal discussion please contact Terry Colley 01642 513696.

The council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
