Children’s Safeguarding - Legal Services, Law and Governance

We wish to recruit a flexible, highly skilled lawyer to join our Safeguarding Legal Team. It is essential that you have experience of and a genuine enthusiasm for Child Safeguarding law and an excellent approach to public service and client care. You will provide legal advice, representation and undertake legal research relating to child safeguarding matters and will carry a caseload of matters in both proceedings and pre-proceedings. You will undertake advocacy in the relevant courts, including contested hearings and briefing counsel where appropriate.

You will be part of a busy legal team and at times may be required to undertake work in other areas covered by the team.

North Tyneside Council has been placed among the top ten of children’s service departments nationally following our OFSTED inspection in March 2017. OFSTED gave the Authority’s services to safeguard children an overall judgment of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features.
