Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

Our aspiration is to give the children and young people within the South Tees region the best possible start in life and, although we are proud of our journey so far, we recognise there is always more to do.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, together with Middlesbrough Council, Cleveland Police and the Clinical Commissioning Group have developed a Multi-Agency Children’s Hub.

We are looking to appoint a Deputy Team Manager with the relevant skills and abilities to support managers, and the team, to deliver a multi-agency safeguarding first contact service.

Working as part of a wider management team, you will help to manage a diverse team, which provides the ‘front door’ services (this includes safeguarding and early help) on behalf of both Redcar & Cleveland and Middlesbrough.

We are seeking to recruit a Deputy Team Manager who is the best in their field and driven by delivering the best possible safeguarding services.

As the successful candidate, you will support both Team Managers to deliver an efficient and effective first contact service for all enquiries and referrals into the Children and Families Service; including the provision of accurate and timely information, advice and guidance, and referrals to the appropriate level of service from early help to specialist and safeguarding provision.

You will be a seasoned professional social worker with a final Professional Social Work Qualification e.g. BA SW. You will have knowledge of the legislative framework for Children’s Services and knowledge of the continuum of need for children and young people.

You will possess excellent communication skills and be able to drive change and implement improvements. With the ability to maintain a strong team ethos and a goal-orientated approach, you will gain and maintain the respect of key partners. You will be politically aware and be able to work effectively with Senior Managers, Elected Members and a diverse range of professional colleagues.

The post offers a competitive salary and employee benefits, including Local Government Pension Scheme, employee discounts, and flexible working. We will provide you with a comprehensive induction programme, dedicated supervision and a range of great CPD opportunities as well as further management development.

Interviews will take place on 29th November, 2019.

If you have any queries in relation to this post, please contact Debbie Harrison, Service Manager on 01642 130706

The council is an accredited Investors in People employer at gold level and holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.

We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
