Further Information
Darlington is a great place to work. It is perfectly placed and has easy accessible transport links to both North and South. We are an ingenious Town with a strong sense of pride and heritage.
There isn’t a better time to join Darlington Borough Council’s Children and Adults Services. Partnership working is excellent, with a real commitment to improving outcomes in Darlington.
This is an exciting opportunity to join us, to help create the vision and services that are fit for the future. There is pace and energy to succeed, with a motivated and committed workforce, alongside a supportive management team.
With a stable Senior Management Team in place, we are looking to recruit a Strategic Commissioning Manager (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - SEND) as part of our continued transformation and service improvements.
You will support the work of the Commissioning and Contracts Team to ensure that resources are used to commission services that make a positive impact, meet statutory obligations and contribute to overall strategic objectives. You will work as part of a team, with a focus on the management of specific projects and outcome based commissioning, as well as transformational and ad-hoc projects, providing challenge and advice for the delivery of agreed targets.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about achieving good outcomes for vulnerable children and young people with SEND, resilient and positive, with the ability to support, challenge and influence partners across a diverse sector.
If this sounds like a role where you could share your relevant experience and make a positive difference then we would like to hear from you.
What’s in it for you?
Your reward for working at the Council goes beyond the salary you receive. Lots of the benefits are in our employment terms and conditions, such as 31 days annual leave, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, fair pay and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave payment, to name but a few.
In addition to these, we are committed to provide a wide range of other benefits, such as:
• Additional leave purchase scheme
• Flexible working and flexi-time scheme, including mobile working
• Childcare vouchers
• Cycle to work scheme in partnership with Halfords
• Season ticket car parking permits or subsidised Town Centre permits subject to criteria
• Access to Occupational Health, physiotherapy and counselling services
• Reduced membership to the Dolphin Centre’s Fit for Life Package (including access to classes)
