The Trading Standards Service of Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council enforces a diverse mix of legislation aimed at protecting consumers and legitimate traders.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and suitably skilled individual to join the team on a two-year contract enforcing specific areas of our work. We are looking to recruit an individual with a flair for finding crime and a determination to resolve issues.

The post is funded to undertake both enforcement and promotional activities in support of the Public Health agenda in relation age-restricted products, particularly to reduce the harm caused by tobacco and alcohol.

The nature of the post will require a flexible approach to work including occasionally working outside what are regarded as normal hours. Preferably you can demonstrate recent experience in enforcement. Other essential qualities will include strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to deal firmly but fairly with people, and the ability to prioritise a demanding workload. Managing priorities and maintaining momentum will be key features for the successful applicants.
