We are looking for a Technical Officer with a housing standards and regulatory background to be part of a team involved in private sector housing enforcement and licensing.

You will be involved with private sector housing inspection, licensing, investigation of disrepair and nuisance complaints. You will liaise with tenants and landlords to secure compliance with relevant legislation.

To apply for this role you will have a level 4 qualification, such as an HNC in a related housing field or equivalent, a knowledge of private sector housing related legislation and the technical aspects of enforcement. You must have experience of using the Housing, Health and Safety Rating System for property inspection.

You will need to have good investigative, organisational, planning and problem-solving skills and work well as part of a team.

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to deal confidently and effectively with the public, businesses and members of other organisations. A strong work ethic, ability to deal with a varied caseload and a commitment to customer service are essential.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
