Are you an excellent communicator with strong analytical skills? When faced with a problem do you have the aptitude and skills to see past all the noise and clearly identify the underlying issues? Do you have the ability to present the findings and challenge the status quo? If you can deal with the specific whilst remaining focussed on the bigger picture and can communicate equally as well with a user with a problem as with a systems developer requiring a clear development specification then we are looking for you!
Hambleton District Council is looking for someone who can engage with users and translate their needs into effective ICT solutions to join our modern and forward-looking ICT Team. You will establish strong working relationships, balancing user needs against service vision and business strategy. You will develop clear product specifications which you will also help to deliver. Whilst we expect you to be self-motivated and capable of working independently you will quickly find yourself to be part of a small, friendly team who will closely support you in all that you do.
Individual effort and teamwork is recognised and appreciated, both by colleagues and customers alike. Training will be available throughout the first year of employment, including Agile for Teams, Firmstep online forms and user research if applicable. On completion of your first year, if the required level of competency has been achieved, you will have the opportunity to apply for a Grade 10 Digital Analyst position.
The Council is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme which is available to staff and we also offer a range of staff benefits including flexible working. The office is based at the Civic Centre in Northallerton, which has good road links for anyone travelling to work and free parking is also available on site.
The successful candidate will be subject to a Basic Disclosure check in line with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (fee will be refunded).
Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a practical test as part of the interview.
The district of Hambleton is a region of contrast, from affluent market towns to remote villages, a picturesque rural area framed to the east by the North Yorkshire Moors and the Howardian Hills, stretching from the urban conurbations of the Tees Valley in the north to the outskirts of York in the south, all of which are within an easy commute by road or rail. The latest Halifax Quality of Life survey of local authority districts where living standards are highest ranked Hambleton 5th.
