Independent Panel Chair for Fostering Panel
Northumberland County Council are seeking to appoint a competent and accomplished professional who has considerable expertise in chairing complex meetings and the skills to effectively manage the fostering panel. You will need to be able to demonstrate expertise in childcare planning and child development with a detailed and up to date knowledge of the legislative framework for fostering, and a comprehensive understanding of the national minimum standards and regulations and current good practice initiatives. You will have the skills to ensure that the panel functions within a clear anti-discriminatory framework. The suitable candidate must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and be able to put prospective and approved foster carers at ease whilst promoting sound and responsible decision-making.
The panel meets on the first Thursday of the month, with occasional extra panels to manage the demands of the business. The panel meetings are held at Northumberland County Council County Hall in Morpeth. You will also be expected to attend at least one day training during the year.
The Independent Panel Chair will be a qualified social worker, registered with HCPC (from the 1st December 2019 registered with Social Work England) and with at least five years post qualification experience. The post requires an Enhanced DBS Check. The rate is £425 per panel.
