Business Durham is seeking an experienced Monitoring Officer to provide financial and monitoring support for the Durham Ambitious Business Starts (DABS) project. Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programme, Durham Ambitious Business Starts is a new programme to encourage more high quality start-ups in County Durham, and to support new start businesses during the critical first 12 months of trading.

This exciting new project is being led by Business Durham, working with procured delivery organisations to test new, innovative approaches to supporting businesses to start-up and raising the profile of business start-up support in County Durham.

The role of the post will be to set up and maintain monitoring and financial record-keeping systems for the DABS project, contributing to the efficient and effective management of the project. Key elements of the role will involve close liaison with procured delivery organisations, preparing quarterly grant claims, and leading on compliance with European funding requirements.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of administration and financial systems, together with proven planning and organisational skills. Ideally candidates will also have experience of establishing monitoring and record-keeping systems, and preparing European grant claims or claims for similar grant-funding regimes. Awareness of the business support landscape in the North East LEP area would also be an advantage.

This post is part funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Fund Programme. NB Confirmation of appointment to the post will be subject to ERDF funding approval, expected shortly.
