Salary: £27,905 - £31,371 Grade 9

Job Location: Your usual place of work will be Civic Centre, Crook, however you may be required to work at any Durham County Council workplace.

We are seeking to appoint a full time Independent Visitor Co-ordinator to be responsible for the County Durham Youth Justice Service’s Independent Visitor Programme. The post holder will manage, support and co-ordinate the work of the service and contribute to the development of the Independent Visitor programme. Young people who are looked after in County Durham are entitled to an Independent Visitor to engage, mentor and support them. Many young people who are looked after have no contact with family/adults other than professionals and our aim is to increase the numbers who can access a volunteer mentor.

You will be part of a small team within County Durham Youth Justice Service that recruits volunteers for a variety of roles including Independent Visitors.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with volunteers and knowledge of issues impacting Looked After children as well as a good working knowledge of relevant children’s legislation.

Required qualifications: Degree and/or equivalent.

The successful applicant for this post will be required to apply for a Disclosure & Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
