Sunderland City Council is growing its Business Investment Team to help deliver ambitious City Plan goals focused on More and Better Jobs. It is an exciting time to join the team, with major economic regeneration activity underway attracting significant public and private sector investment to accelerate the pace and scale of development. Sunderland has a strong track record of attracting inward investment and supporting small and medium sized businesses in key sectors – including Automotive and Advanced Manufacturing, Software, Creative and Digital, and Financial and Customer Services - to grow and thrive.
As part of the Council’s City Development Directorate, the Business Investment Manager post will lead a team of experienced economic development staff in attracting new investment to Sunderland and supporting the growth of businesses based in the city - focusing on key priority areas, including increasing the city centre employment. This is an exciting opportunity for applicants who can demonstrate experience of developing investment propositions for potential investors and a good understanding of the local and regional economy, together with experience of effective engagement with the private sector to support economic growth.
