Further information
Northumberland County Council has opened recruitment to expand their 24/7 foster care scheme. 24/7 foster carers offer support to children aged 10 to 18 years old for short term stays which are usually between 4 to 6 weeks. These placements bridge a child or young person onto a longer term option as identified in their individual care plan. This may be a move to a long term placement, a return to their family or a move into independence.

Come and meet carers at our “Is fostering for me?” event 16th January in Bedlington.

If you can say yes to the following, please contact our recruitment officer for an informal chat about the Bridging Care role:

Experience working with children and young people?
Looking for a new challenge?
Have a spare bedroom?
Aged 25 or over?
Access to a car?
Can work as part of the team around the child, as well as independently?
Will actively support and encourage young people in their health and social development?

All Northumberland foster carers benefit from:
24/7 support from dedicated teams - including education, health, therapeutic, respite
Pre-approval training
Ongoing free training programme (including accredited courses)
Extensive support network of foster carers and buddy scheme
Generous mileage payments
Fostertalk membership and national discount benefits
Active Northumberland - discounted access to leisure centres
Additional support from Northumberland County Council and Partner Services
