Further Information
John Spence is a popular and successful school, serving students from the North Shields area of North Tyneside.

We have an exciting opportunity for creative, hardworking professionals to join our highly effective Inclusion team as Special Support Assistants. The successful candidates may have experience of working with children in the 11-16 age range, but this is not essential. They will have high expectations when supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent is essential however, degree level qualification is desirable.

The successful candidates will work as part of a team based within the Inclusion Department, working with students who exhibit the full range of Special Educational Needs. The role includes supporting all learners, and in particular those with ASD to play a full role in school life, building their confidence and self esteem and therefore experience in this area would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will work across a range of subject areas, and will have an allocation of cover supervision.

We take pride in the school’s academic achievement, whilst being firmly committed to Inclusion and the Every Child Matters agenda. Therefore, if you are passionate about education and enjoy a challenge, this is the job for you. Potential candidates are welcome to contact Mr Andy Purvis, SENCO for an informal discussion.

This post is fixed term for 1 year, term time only over 195 days, 37 hours per week.

Application forms and further details can be downloaded via school website : www.johnspence.org.uk

Completed application forms along with a covering letter should be returned by 10am on Friday 24th January 2020 to the Headteachers PA via email to Emma.Rutter@ntlp.org.uk
