The Gateshead Governor Support Service are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and articulate person to their busy team, which provides high quality clerking and support to school governing bodies. You will be required to produce draft agendas and agendas, attend governing body and committee meetings (mainly in the evening) and occasional exclusion and complaint meetings, provide advice before, during and after meetings, write up minutes within 15 working days, and carry out follow-up actions.
You must have 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or grade C or above (including Maths and English) or equivalent.
Experience of relevant administrative practices as well as ICT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook is essential. You must be able to organise and prioritise workloads and be able to work under pressure and to deadlines. You must have experience of; producing minutes from formal meetings; monitoring of systems and have good literacy and numeracy skills. You must have effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and be willing to work unsocial hours on a regular basis. It is also essential that you have successful completion of or willingness to work towards the National Training Programme for Clerks qualification or its equivalent.
You should have detailed knowledge and understanding of a wide range of educational issues and legislation around school governance along with experience of minute taking.
You must hold a current driving licence and have access to a car or means to mobility support.
