Who we are:
Aycliffe Secure Centre is a state-of-the-art secure environment with first class facilities and rated Outstanding by OFSTED. Our philosophical approach is to provide exceptional parenting to our young people and see beyond their behaviour to go the extra mile for them. Aycliffe Secure Centre cares for young people who are sentenced, remanded or accommodated under a secure accommodation order as directed by the courts. They need support and intervention in a safe and caring environment, while working on rehabilitation, education and training in vocational skills and life skills.
Why choose us:
Working at Aycliffe Secure Centre is not just a job, it’s one of the most rewarding career choices you will make. Our work is challenging and physical but if you have the drive and dedication, resilience and passion then you will enjoy an exciting and stable career with us.
We offer a comprehensive six-week induction and shadowing process for all new staff as well as excellent training and development opportunities, as well as safeguarding and Restrictive Physical Intervention training.
We offer regular one-to-one sessions to discuss and reflect on your work, access to our resident psychologist, as well as other specialist support. As the centre is part of Durham County Council, you also benefit from our Better Health at Work programme, a family-friendly policy, pension contributions and salary sacrifice schemes, leisure and culture discounts at council venues and a range of other discounts.
The role:
You will be responsible for helping to manage all aspects of our secure children’s home, including: overall case management, safety and security of young people and the buildings, producing appropriate vulnerability assessments and risk management/behaviour plans for young people.
You will ensure young people are supported and prepared for discharge in accordance with their resettlement plan.
You will help us maintain high levels of emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, comfortable accommodation and staff support.
Useful information:
You will work an average of 37 hours per week, following a designated shift pattern between 7.00am – 10pm, with some weekend and bank holiday working.
As part of the role you will be part of a 24-hour cover rota with responsibility for the overall running of the five secure units. This may also involve sleeping in duties.
