North Tyneside Council is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Mobile Library Driver Assistant to carry out front-line duties on the mobile library across North Tyneside and in Libraries, Community Centres and Tourist Information Centres as required. Candidates must be committed to providing a high quality service to our customers.
Duties are driving a 7.5 tonne mobile library vehicle around the borough to schools and supporting children’s events and initiatives. Daily duties include physical management of library stock, engaging with children and teachers by promoting books and reading stories, re-shelving returned items, and a wide range of clerical routines, reception and basic enquiry work and use of the Council and libraries computer system.
This post requires lone working - you will have sole responsibility for driving the vehicle and providing library services to customers from it.
You must be committed to providing a high quality service to customers of all ages. You will need category C1 on your driving licence and a CPC certificate. You should also possess good inter-personal and ICT skills, and be able to lift and handle heavy items.
This post is permanent, 7.5 hours per week.
