Federation Executive Headteacher

Group 3 NOR 445 currently / 397 predicted September 2020
L 21 – 24 Salary £67,183 - £71,590

Required for September 2020
Applications are invited from practising and committed Catholic teachers for the post of Executive Headteacher of St. Mary’s R.C. First School and St. Joseph’s R.C. Middle Schools’ Federation.

The Governors are seeking an experienced, talented and inspirational school leader to build upon our schools’ considerable successes and take us forward into the next phase of our development.

Our two Catholic schools formed a hard Federation in 2017 and we are looking to appoint an exceptional school leader who will lead the Federation in the developing landscape of Catholic education in the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle.

We provide high quality education for children from 4 to 13 on two sites in the centre of Hexham and draw from an extensive catchment area covering all the parishes of the Heavenfield Partnership. Our recent Ofsted inspection reports in July 2018 and December 2019 acknowledge that pupils get a good deal at our school. They typically feel part of a vibrant and inclusive community and teaching is characterised by high expectations of what pupils can achieve.

Our current Executive Headteacher is retiring at the end of the spring term after a long and successful career in Catholic education. She successfully oversaw the federation of our two schools, taking on and shaping the role of Executive Head, so we could better deliver on our joint purpose in education with one vision, and a single management team serving all of our children. Her achievements, of which we are very proud, now offer us the opportunity to build on them further and to continue to drive the Federation forward.

For the right candidate, this post offers an exceptional opportunity to use their knowledge, experience and creativity to build on our school’s strengths, continue to empower our team and lead our school to even greater success.

The successful candidate will:
* Have a strong personal faith and vision for Catholic education
* Enjoy a welcoming working environment, built on supportive relationships
* Have a highly-committed staff team; keen to grow and develop
* Enjoy working with courageous children who have a love of learning
* Have an open-minded, committed, supportive and forward-thinking governing body
* Build on the success of the federated schools working in partnership to create a seamless educational
journey
* Demonstrate high expectations and set challenging targets for pupils and staff to improve outcomes for all
* Have a proven track record of raising standards in teaching and learning
* Have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to developing positive relationships with the wider
community.

We strongly recommend that you visit us so we can share with you why we are so proud of our schools, while allowing you the opportunity to see what we have to offer. For more information and to arrange a visit, please email:
Mrs Alison Mellor at alison.mellor@hexhamstjosephs.uk

Applications should be completed in line with the personal specification and forwarded to:
Mr Tomás Neeson via Alison Mellor at alison.mellor@hexhamstjosephs.uk

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Closing Date: Midday 24th February 2020
Shortlisting: 2nd March 2020
Interview: 16th March 2020

We are an equal opportunities employer, committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants are subject to an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check and satisfactory employment references.
