Barndale House School is a happy, friendly residential special school in Alnwick for children and young people aged 2-19 years of age with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. Our residential provision was inspected by Ofsted in October 2019 and we are proud that it was graded ‘Good’ in all areas.

We are searching for a caring, dynamic and self-motivated Residential Shift Coordinator to support the Headteacher, existing Head of Care and small team of hardworking residential key workers to assist with the operational management and strategic development of the provision, in addition to having some responsibility for the planning, organisation and delivery of activities for our very special pupils.

You will be expected to provide a warm, caring, positive and stimulating environment for all children and young people who access the provision and will be responsible (under the direction of the Headteacher and Residential Head of Care) for the coordination of the residential care team to ensure that standards and expectations are of the highest quality. The role will also involve working alongside our whole school staff team to promote our school aims and values.

You should ‘lead by example’ and be capable of maintaining a high quality approach to the delivery of care and the 24 hour curriculum. Previous experience in a similar education or social care setting and an NVQ level 3 qualification relating to children, young people / social care are an essential requirement for this role. The post is also subject to an enhanced criminal records / DBS check which will be carried out prior to the start of employment.
