Britain’s decision to leave the EU presents the business community of Redcar & Cleveland with both challenges and opportunities. Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is looking for a business focussed individual with strong grounding in research and policy development to join its Business and Skills team to help smooth the transition from being in to being outside of the EU for its local business base. This will demand excellent communication skills to liaise between different Government departments, public sector bodies and the private sector to relay the needs and concerns of local businesses to the policy makers who will determine future trade and funding regulations. It will also require a good understanding of the drivers of business and a knowledge of import and export trade to be able to identify which areas are likely to have the greatest impact on businesses and which offer the greatest opportunities. You will have the experience and credibility to work with large multinational firms and locally based SMEs and broker for them appropriate public funding and support to take their operations forward successfully following Britain's exit from the EU.
You would be expected to hold a degree/ professional qualification relevant to the requirements of the post.

This is a fixed term post for 2 years.
