Further Information
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a teacher with SEN and Early Years experience to join the teaching team at Barndale House School.
About the School
Barndale House School is a happy, friendly residential special school in Alnwick town centre for children and young people aged 2-19 years of age with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including ASD, SLD and PMLD. We are a small but ambitious school that was recently described by Ofsted (December 2019) as ‘improving at a pace’. Our school and residential team of staff are committed to ensuring that our children and young people’s different abilities and individualities are celebrated – at Barndale House School, ‘every day is an opportunity to shine’.
About the role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering an Early Years style curriculum for pupils with a range of needs and who are working significantly below age related expectations. Differentiation and individualised learning strategies are vital skills required to meet the needs of all of our pupils
You will be enthusiastic, able to lead and work effectively as part of a team and will be dedicated to making a difference to improving the lives of the children and young people that we support. The start date for this fantastic opportunity is ideally 20th April 2020 (subject to the necessary clearances), however this could be negotiated in line with any notice period needed or for an exceptional candidate.
Who are we looking for?
Just as important as academic achievement is the personal, social and emotional development of our pupils. It will therefore be imperative to provide opportunities to advance pupils’ skills in these areas. Personalised planning, positive behaviour reinforcement and a flexible approach will all underpin your everyday practice.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all of our staff to share this commitment. An enhanced criminal records check is required for this post.
Further information about the school can be found on our website.
An application pack, including an application form, is available to download below. Please ensure that application form and criminal records declaration form are all completed and returned to enable the application to be considered. Application forms should also include the email addresses of your referees.
Completed application forms should be returned directly to the school by e-mail, no later than Monday 24th February at 12noon
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 3rd March 2020
