The Northumberland Sensory Support Service
A highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf is required to join our dynamic team which provides support to children and young people with hearing, vision and multisensory impairments across Northumberland.
Our Teachers of the Deaf provide specialist support, in a peripatetic capacity, for deaf and hearing impaired children and young people, their parents/carers, schools/settings.

Applications are invited from qualified and experienced Teachers of the Deaf or from suitably experienced teachers with recent classroom practice and the firm commitment to undertake the specialist qualification.

The role
Ideally the successful candidate will have:
- specialist mandatory qualification in teaching deaf children (QToD)
- an innovative, creative and effective approach to teaching
- excellent communication skills
- recent experience of working in a variety of educational settings, with a range of children & young people with SEN
- the ability to work with parents, other colleagues and relevant professionals
- a commitment to working as part of a team to deliver a positive experience to children across the County
- own transport to enable travel between educational settings throughout the County

If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks and a DBS check. As this post involves working with children, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage.

We are offering: 
- Permanent position
- Salary MPS/UPS per annum (SEN 2 payable if holding mandatory qualification)
- Teachers pension scheme
