We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Safeguarding Adults Manager to join our well-established and highly regarded Safeguarding Adults team.

This is an exciting career development opportunity for professionals who are interested in the field of Adult Safeguarding and Deprivation of Liberty. The Safeguarding Adults Unit incorporates all aspects of safeguarding activity including organisational/paid worker and complex abuse cases and we have a newly established adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub. The Safeguarding Adults Managers provide safeguarding advice to professionals both inside and outside Newcastle City Council, chair Safeguarding Adults Strategy and Protection Plan meetings and therefore the candidate requires excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate must be a progressed social worker with a minimum of 3 years’ post qualifying experience and be willing and able to manage a complex and variable workload in a busy environment, where priorities are constantly changing. You must have a commitment to ensuring that Adults at Risk are at the heart of the safeguarding process, and be able to demonstrate this. You must be trained, or be willing to be trained, as a Best Interest Assessor under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

You will need an understanding of Safeguarding Adult issues including:
• Knowledge of Safeguarding Adults policy and procedures;
• Knowledge of the Deprivation of Liberty (DoLS) policy and procedures;
• Knowledge and experience of risk assessment/risk management;
• Knowledge of processes such as MAPPA, MARAC and PREVENT;
• Ability to chair multi-agency Safeguarding Adults meetings;
• Knowledge of the safeguarding across the life course, including transition between childhood to adulthood.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the relevant barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

For an informal discussion, please contact Sam Keith, Service Manager on 0191 278 8118.

Apply online at www.northeastjobs.org.uk, select 'Apply Now' and complete our online application form.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

Please note the closing has been extended to 12 March 2020.
