The Service
The Economy and Regeneration service sits within the Regeneration, Economy and Commercial Directorate of the Council. The Service has 47 staff whose core purpose is to deliver the Council’s priority of Economic Growth. This includes the influencing of national and regional policy and coordinating and driving forward the delivery and management of regeneration and economic growth projects. This includes the acquisition and management of external funding, including Borderlands Growth Deal, North of Tyne Combined Authority Investment Funding, European Structural Funds and Central Government Initiatives.

The Service is looking to recruit a Rural Growth Manager. The post will sit in the Rural Growth Team.

The role
The post will report to the Head of Economy and Regeneration and will manage the newly created Rural Growth Team. You will manage the Rural Growth functions associated with strategic rural economic development policies and programmes and the projects and initiatives that arise. You will play a leading role in delivering the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal, this will include developing economic business cases and maximising the amount of external funding secured.

Essential requirements:
You will be educated to degree or equivalent standard,and have a detailed comprehension of rural growth planning and policy issues.You will have significant knowledge of public sector funding sources together with experience of delivering economic growth and regeneration programmes.

You will have extensive experience and proven achievement at senior management level within an Economic Development Service or organisation of comparable scope and complexity.

You will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, along with well developed networking and partnership development skills.The ability to converse at ease and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
