Why North of Tyne Combined Authority?

Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland local authorities have secured a devolution deal that focuses on bringing investment, employment opportunities and brighter prospects to the whole North of Tyne area.

Devolution means £20m investment a year for the next 30 years which will provide an extra £600m over this time. It also means new powers to shape our own future and meet the needs of local people and business.

Key decisions about investment, housing, education and skills development are being made locally to benefit our local economy and the people who live, work, study and visit here.

Led by an elected mayor, the new North of Tyne Combined Authority will manage a range of powers on housing, transport, infrastructure, skills and employment.

Over the 30-year-period, this could create up to 10,000 new and better and jobs, generate £1.1bn for our local economy and pull in a further £2.1bn in private sector investment.

This is an exciting time for the North of Tyne area and we are looking for exceptional people to join us on this momentous journey, to deliver our vision and help us put the North of Tyne on a national and international stage.

The role
The role of Head of Communications, Engagement & Organisational Development will be a pivotal role, integral to the North of Tyne Combined Authority in establishing our identity and reputation. You will understand communications and marketing and you will know that engagement and collaboration with our partner Authorities is the key to our success and our organisational development approach is targeted to meet this goal.

We are the Home of Ambition, for our people and our places. We are looking for an outstanding individual with extensive experience in communications in complex organisations. You will have an impressive skill set that will include a demonstrable interest in improving the lives of residents and citizens, an understanding of genuine engagement, and the ability to work with our team for them to become the best they can be.

Innovation and transformation are vital to ensure positive links between an inclusive economy and climate change/carbon reduction. The right candidate will ensure this lies at the heart of everything we do, through active engagement with the Elected Mayor, Cabinet, staff, stakeholders, partners, businesses and residents to improve outcomes.

At NTCA, we don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. NTCA is proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.

If you have an innovative flair for communicating with a wide-ranging audience, experience of transformation and delivering the right culture through organisational development in a politically sensitive organisation, we would love to hear from you.
