Further Information
North Tyneside has adopted an asset (or strengths) based approach to working with adults in the borough. Based around four community-based teams our service seeks to be receptive to the needs of residents. We work closely with a range of multi-disciplinary colleagues from different disciplines and organisations to offer a holistic approach to meeting people’s needs. Our North West team have recently had two vacancies arise. We are based at the John Willie Sams Centre in Dudley which provides a hub for other Health and third sector services where we enjoy positive relationships with our colleagues.

Why did you become a social worker?

• To work directly with people?
• Empower people to improve their lives?
• Make a difference to local communities?
• A belief that focusing on the strengths and assets of a person or community, rather than their deficits, will always produce better outcomes?
• A commitment to quality of opportunity, regardless of background and diversity?

We’ve recently reviewed our whole approach to supporting adults, and families in North Tyneside. We’ve introduced a new, dynamic model of support, built around our 4 small localities. This will enable you to build meaningful relationships with local GPs and providers, as well as shaping the future of the services we commission.

We’re using a strengths based approach to helping people transform their lives, which will focus on the community they are part of and that empowers them to take as much control of their lives as possible. You’ll have a long-term case load to enable you to get to know the people you work with over the lifetime of their personal budget and will be supported by an experienced lead practitioner.

We currently operate a case recording system with full agile working. The IT kit will enable you to work from any community location and from home. As part of this we’re streamlining all administrative processes, maximising the time you spend with people, not paperwork.

We have a well-established programme of Continuing Professional Development support and you’ll be given free access to range of online and face to face resources to help you evidence and develop your skills and practice which practitioners have found particularly beneficial especially those undertaking their ASYE.

You will be appointed to LG Grade 8 or 9 depending on your qualifications and experience.
LG Grade 8 - £26,999 - £30,507 pa
LG Grade 9 - £31,371 - £34,788 pa
