Gateshead Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is looking to appoint an Experienced Social Worker. Our service offers a generic out of hours emergency social work response to all situations that present and cannot wait until the next working day. We are an agile service based in the Civic Centre in Gateshead. You will hold a recognised Social Work Qualification and PQ training, possess skills necessary to practice as an AMHP or the willingness to train if not qualified. SWE registration is also essential.

You will have a broad and extensive knowledge of child care legislation, national policy and use this to uphold our statutory responsibilities whilst contributing to the Gateshead 'Thrive' agenda. You will have knowledge of child protection procedures/Children Act and multi-agency responsibilities; assessment models, social work interventions and statutory and organisational contexts, corporate parenting responsibilities and Government policy contexts and drivers. Knowledge of performance agenda relevant to Social Work is also essential.

You will have experience of proactively managing risk and being involved in applying safeguarding processes. You will be able to prioritise and manage competing demands and you will have experience of working autonomously whilst seeking support where this is indicated or demonstrate the ability to do so.

You will have excellent IT skills including the accurate and analytical input and review of the Local Authority's social care recording system.

Due to the hours of work It is essential that you have a current driving licence and if successful you will have to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.
