Further Information
Pause works with women who have experienced, or are at risk of, repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be removed from their care.

The programme gives women the chance to pause and take control over their lives, breaking a destructive cycle that causes both them and their children deep trauma, as well as reducing huge costs to society and the taxpayer.

As a Pause Next Steps Practitioner, you will be responsible for supporting women who have completed the Pause Programme across Newcastle, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside and Durham to increase their independence, to sustain positive life changes and reinforce positive self-narratives. As women come to the end of the Pause programme, the transition from high levels of focused support to less intense support can be a challenge, but also offers an opportunity. This means it is crucial that every woman has access to the best possible transition to adequately support and sustain her on to and during the next phase of her journey from dependence to independence

Responsibilities:

• Work with women and the local community to co-design, set up and deliver a Next Steps offer appropriate to their needs and aspirations;

• Provide light-touch support to women who require it, including through groups or short 1:1 interventions at times of crisis;

• Develop a calendar of weekly drop-in sessions to offer support around specific issues such as benefits and housing. Women will be signposted and supported to engage with other services to ensure sustained engagement with health services; including mental and sexual health services and other issue based programmes of support

Please see Addition Information Sheet for information.
